Kurtis Schmitt, 55, of Walnut Shade, MO died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 23rd in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Cramner officiating.

Kurtis William Schmitt was born Friday, May 24, 1963 in Kansas City, MO to Keith William and Nancy Ann (Collier) Schmitt. He attended school in Independence, MO and graduated from Truman High School in the class of 1981. He met Melody Lane in Branson and they were married June 4, 1982 in Miami, OK. They moved to Walnut Shade where he worked as a construction contractor. Kurtis was also a Country Music Singer and Composer. He made numerous trips to Nashville to pursue his country music career. He retired in 2013 due to illness.

Kurtis was a talented singer, guitar player and composer. He was hardworking and had a heart of gold. Kurtis was generous-- he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He was a good provider and sincerely loved his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Melody of Walnut Shade; three sons, Kody of Walnut Shade, Beau and wife, Kayla of Springfield, Rocky of Walnut Shade: Mother, Nancy Smith of Cleburne, TX and two grandchildren, Braylee and Enzlee.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
