Emaline Hampton, 82, of Forsyth died Friday, June 15, 2018 at her
residence. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 19th in
the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 PM
in the funeral home with Pastor David Koenig officiating. Burial will be at
10:00 AM Wednesday, June 20 in the Helphrey Cemetery, Taneyville.
Emaline Hampton was born Sunday, September 22, 1935 in Taneyville to
James William and Jessie Ema (Coulter) McHaffie. She attended the Lone
Pilgrim School in Taneyville. On March 22, 1950 she married William "Bill"
Addington. They moved to Port Angeles, WA where Emaline became a
housewife and homemaker. She and Bill were married for sixteen years when
Bill died in 1966 in Port Angeles. She met Leon Hampton and they were
married in 1969 in Canyon County ID. They resided in Port Angeles until 1972
when they purchased a home and 160-acre farm in Taneyville. They lived
there for over twenty years then purchased a home on Mill Hollow Road. She
and Leon were married for twenty-four years when Leon died in 1993.
Emaline worked on the family farm and worked for Hagel Industries for over
twenty years. In addition to that she worked as a care provider for thirty
years and retired at the age of eighty. She took great pride in her worked
and was loved and respected as a caregiver.
Emaline was described as hardworking, resourceful, practical, reliable,
determined, frank or straight-forward, dependable. She was creative with
her quilting and needlepoint. She confronted many challenges and obstacles
throughout life and weathered them all with perseverance - refusing to
complain or live a life rooted in self-pity. An example for us all to follow."
She enjoyed quilting, gardening and her dogs. She was a member of the
Lone Star Church in Swan, MO.
She is survived by two sons, David Addington and wife, Tana of Forsyth,
Dennis Addington and wife, Chong of Las Vegas, NV; A daughter, Faye
Barksdale and husband, Andrew of Springfield; two step-daughters, Dee Dee
Hodges of Bradleyville, Helen Stafford of Springfield; one brother, J. W.
McHaffie of Taneyville; three sisters, Dorothy Koenig of Taneyville, Susie
Whitaker of Greenfield, MO, Martha Brockman of Niangua, MO; Thirteen
grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two sons, Danny
Hampton and Paul Addington; six brothers William, Noel, Chester and Clifford
McHaffie, Joe and Carl Thornton; six sisters, Mildred Davis, Buena Chorn,
Gussie Ingram, Freida Hurd, Belva Thornton and Cleo McHaffie.
