Albert "Bert" Smith, 83, of Bradleyville died January 14, 2018 in the Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center. A private graveside gathering will be held at a later date at his request.

Albert Vernon Ellis Smith was born Saturday, October 6, 1934 in Bradleyville to Albert and Goldia (Wright) Smith. He attended a one room school in Kentucky Hollow and graduated from the Bradleyville High School in the class of 1955. Bert then spent two years in the army stationed in Fort Hood Texas and Frankfurt, Germany during peace time. He later worked on a large farm in Liberty, MO but soon returned to the hills of home and worked in farming, the timber industry and raising cattle. He worked until his health started to fail.

He is survived by two sisters, Lavern Swadley of Bradleyville, Teddie Coulter and husband, Charles of Brighton, MO; a sister-in-law, Beverly Smith of Bradleyville; five nieces and four nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Goldia Smith; a sister, Mary "Sue" Swadley; a brother, Gerald Wayne Smith; grandparents, Andrew and Susan (Stamper) Smith and William Wright and Mary (Jennings) Wright; infant nephew, Jimmy Ray Swadley; brothers-in-law Oren Swadley and Raymond Swadley.

Arrangements are under the directions of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
